Just Buy It And Make It The 51st State...

Recent discussions about the causes (and costs) of illegal immigration have gotten a lot of press. Then, this morning, I read that one in seven Mexicans work in the United States.

Since economic growth in their Third World backwater is stagnant, and so many like being here in the US of A, I think that the solution is quite simple.

Buy Mexico and make it a state.

The Democrats could get behind this move because they would be looking at lots of prospective new voters, the Republicans could get behind this move because it solves the issue of illegal immigration.

We would make a move toward energy independence because Mexico has a lot of gas and oil; there could be harmonisation of laws relating to safety and security; and Mexico's southern border is smaller and easier to defend than ours with Mexico. Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) can tell his constituents that there is no need for Yucca Mountain, since the 51st state is open for business as a toxic waste dump; and, it will be easier for college kids to go to Cancun for Spring Break because it would no longer be considered foreign travel.

I say we offer Mexico...oh...$100 Billion--about $1,000.00 for every man, woman and child in Mexico...and some tax credits. We can get Gates, Turner and Buffett (Warren, not Jimmy) to hold the note, with thirty year terms.

Problem solved.
